From 1974 to 1985 the Larry Briggs Award was annually presented to the top high school players in Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts by the New England Board of Soccer Officials for their performance in State Championship games. The award is named after Larry Briggs who is recognized by many as the “Father of Soccer Officiating.” He was the long time coach of the Men’s Soccer Team at the University of Massachusetts. Recipients from 1979, 1981, 1982, and 1983 are unknown at this time.
