The 27th Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl, sponsored by Seacoast United, was held at Thomas College on Sunday under partly sunny conditions, with the Southern Senior All-Stars winning three of the four contests.
In the first boy’s game of the day the Southern AB Seniors easily outmatched the Northern AB All-Stars by the score of 4 – 0. Leading the Southern squad was Tiernan Lathrop of Cape Elizabeth with two goals, while Jack Blais of Erskine Academy and Wyatt Flibbert of Windham scored single unassisted tallies. The shut-out was turned in by Sean Doyle of Gardiner. Keepers for the Northern AB Team were Trey Bourassa of Bangor and Xavier McAtee of Presque Isle.
The second game, that started at 12:15, was between the Southern CD Girls and the Northern CD Girls, where the South outscored the North 4 – 1. Emily Harper of Maranacook led the South with two goals and an assist. Single goals were scored by Grace Dwyer of Maranacook and Morgan Hamm of Monmouth Academy. Dwyer added an assist along with Jazzy Huntsman of North Yarmouth Academy. The Northern CD goal was scored by Gabby Ayotte of Ashland with Beanne Barton of Houlton assisting. Keepers for the South were Ruby Cyr of Buckfield and Paige Gonya of Oak Hill, while Emilee Ireland of Penobscot Valley and Eva Callioras of Fort Fairfield tended the nets for the North.
The South’s dominance on the day continued in the 2:30 game with the Southern AB Girls defeating the Northern AB Girls 6 – 1. Two goals were scored by Emily Supple of Cape Elizabeth, while single tallies were scored by Katelyn D’Appolonia of Yarmouth, Maddie Michaud of Gorham, Rylee Riethchel of Erskine Academy, and Una Djuranovic of Scarborough, which was a Penalty Kick. Goalkeeping duties for both sides were shared by Elise Branch of Cape Elizabeth and Jordan Wolf of Falmouth.
In the final game of the day, between the Northern CD Boys and the Southern CD Boys, the North finally prevailed over the South. It featured a wide open game that ended with a North 6 – 2 victory. The North was led by two Wisdom High School stars, Sam Roy and Carter Pelletier, who combined for 3 goals. Other goals were scored by Ethen Allard of Lee Academy, Chase Campbell of Orono, and Lucas Haines of Central Aroostook. Northern assists were turned in by Pelletier and Adma Groski of Bangor Christian. The South goal scorers were Cam Walters of Mt. Abram and Kai Lucas of Hall-Dale. Assists were recorded by Josie Harrington of Chop Point and Cole Alexander of Richmond. Keepers for the North were Javier Alicea-Santiago of Orono and Koby Searles of Van Buren. Minding the nets for the South were Ian Allen of Mt. Abram and Joshua Wright of Searsport.
